A short film about identity, exhaustion, building home - and what it means to live both Vietnamese and American, always.
A Roots to Restaurants Collaboration
Dear reader,
There’s a moment in the film where I talk about waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning - anxious, alone, unsure of what’s next.
I used to think I was the only one awake at that hour.
But bakers are always awake.
Someone is always working in the dark, preparing something warm for the morning.
This film is about that space.
About rediscovering the half of myself I had ignored, about leaving a life that made me feel like a machine, and about building something that feels like home.
Anh Ơi means “hey, you."
It’s a call to connect.
If you’ve ever felt caught between identities, or exhausted by a life that didn’t fit, I hope this resonates.
